DIGITAL TRANSCRIPTION

We also offer digital transcription, working from emailed voice files in WAV,  DSS*, MP3, WMA, etc.  file formats.  This is quick and convenient, as there is no need for tapes or mail/courier services.

How Does This Work?

You will need to have a digital dictation machine.  With a digital recorder there is no need for tapes - you simply dictate and then download a voice file onto your PC or WAP mobile (this works via USB connection or Smart Card dependent upon the model of recorder).  Then you simply attach the file to an email, and send it through to us.

If you'd like some more information or would like to purchase a digital recorder, we are happy to recommend Speak-it Solutions.  Please visit their web site or email Sean Quiney for more information.

We have full professional transcription facilities for digital dictation, including foot pedal and professional software, to allow us to transcribe your file.  We will produce your work in Microsoft Word and then email the document to you.

The Benefits

*    No tapes
*    No need to rely on mail or courier services
*    No mail or courier charges
*    Speed
*    Easier to edit recordings
*    Quality of recordings is generally better
*    Compact and portable technology
*    Geographical location really is irrelevant

If you are frequently on the move, this is the perfect solution.  Wherever you are in the world, you can email through voice files and have those transcribed and emailed back in word processed format without having to wait on tapes getting to your office!

Even if you are permanently based in the US, Australia, or any other part of the world, I can still assist you from here in the UK!

*    DSS (Digital Speech Standard) files are highly compressed voice files, and are
     much smaller than WAV files.  For example, a 1MB DSS file would equate to
    about 16 minutes of dictation, whereas this same file size in WAV format
    would give only about 2 minutes of dictation.  Because of this high compression,
     DSS files are easier to send as emailed attachments.  DSS files are used on the
     majority of Olympus machines.
